Unsolved Random Unresponsive Issue
-
Hi all,
After recent updates to gateway and google assistant, I’ve been having issues with (I assume) Detector. I can get a response as usual with “hey google” for a few attempts, but it quickly becomes unresponsive. I do a pm2 stop/start and it starts working again.
Alert doesn’t show any issues, the google icon is bright and colorful not grayed out, my background images are still scrolling and the magic mirror application itself is responding fine. My google nest thermostat continues to show correctly, but it refuses to act with the wake word till the app is restarted.
I have not had an issue like this for the months I’ve had the system stood up till recently.Any feedback appreciated, thanks!

hi,
EXT-Detector can’t crash MM because All libraries are loaded and executed in backend
Only Displayer is on FrontEnd: an icon can’t generate a crashGA is stable … Update is only for volume control (when called and use EXT-Volume)
Gateway… just add some translation in Frontend and new EXTs and other part are in backend … So it’s not that tooother modules update ?
why ? because if a module crash on Frontend … you lost some module in Frontendsee frontend log and see what happen
eventually backend log … but i think it’s not really located in it -
Hi @bugsounet,
Thanks for the reply. To clarify some, I am not implying MM itself is crashing. The application itself looks completely normal. All my modules appear to be responding correctly, my other google integration (nest) operating normally, I just can’t interact with Google Assistant using the wake word (hey google). It will start out fine, then after a few triggers working properly it will stop with no errors or signs of issues besides no response. I restart just MM using pm2 (the raspberry pi itself stays running) and it comes back to normal.
In the photo attached, everything looks normal. The detector icon is fully illuminated showing it’s ready, but never triggers with the wake word. If there’s another place to look for errors or logs, I am more than happy to see. I just don’t get any alerts or notifications of something is wrong besides Google Assistant being unresponsive anymore.
Thanks!

So … I you have no error on front end log and back end log
I suppose again you have tested this: you have tested only with GA suite and the result is the same
in this case:
- I don’t know. and I have no solution (without log, but like you says you have no error)
- I don’t have this issue in my prod mirror (running without reboot/restart since last GA suite update)
sorry
