snowboy is gone ... Porcupine as alternative ?
I tried to generate a custom wake word with snowboy but since they are down and I am not able to retrieve an API key anymore i tried to find alternatives around there.
Porcupine seems to me to be a good alternative (https://picovoice.ai/docs/api/picovoice-nodejs/). What do you think ?
@bugsounet I tried to understand your code. as far as i understood you are using your custom library “@bugsounet/snowboy” … but I get confused with your branching mechanism and the links within. I would love to include it and create a pull request to integrate it… but it would be create to have some basic information of your structure before i start to crash everything of it
I try picovoice AI, there 5-6 month, but it’s horrible to take place a new keyword. (and needed to reactivate after 15 or 30 days)
I don’t know if it’s better now, i have to see
@bugsounet/snowboyworks perfectly and write a new part of code for next generation of assistant (actually under testing): Alexa and GoogleAssistant on the same time and 2 keyword listener
@bugsounet/snowboywill comming soon in the library section
OK good to know. I do have experience with none of them. So do you know if its possible to create a custom keywords with snowboy without an API key?
I will update soon for this.
Since 01/01/2021, trainning of new keyword is closed
I will make my own script for this
Maybe you can try this
i have not tested
great, i’ll try this… thanks for the hint
Hi! Did someone have the hot word “Ok! Google”, which was generated from Snowboy before they closed it?
this keyword have never be released by Kit-AI
+1 to this thread. I would love to be able to say “Hey Google” just like I can with my phone.
I tried the new fork of snowboy (https://github.com/seasalt-ai/snowboy#new-build-your-own-personal-models-ubuntu-1604-and-macos), but I couldn’t get it to install on the Pi or on my Mac. I also tried setting
false, but I couldn’t get the assistant to activate. I still have no clue what that option does.
I would be open to helping with implementation if that’s needed, because I really would want this (especially if it somehow uses Google’s detection, which is much better than Snowboy).
I will try to code another listener with this official library
I see that ‘hey google’ // ‘ok google’ can be detected
Thanks so much! It looks like we’re not the only ones doing something like this: https://github.com/SikandAlex/MMM-Porcupine. I’m also in the process of having to switch some of my own projects off of Snowboy, ugh. I’m curious to see how this library works.
@jsilverberg this module don’t use offcial library … and don’t really works (to old sources …)
Yeah, I couldn’t get it to work on my mirror installation. I’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing this in an upcoming release!
- It’s actually under coding (wow i have coded it !)
- I test it into my prod mirror with GoogleAssistant v3 (Wow GoogleAssistant v3 !!!)
- Keyword tested:
- ok google
- hey google
- Not coded: Personal model
Wait and See
That’s incredible! I think I see the v3 currently on the dev branch. Is it safe for me to
checkout devand try the built in models?
humm, It’s really not a good idea actually
Sounds good. I’ll wait for the official release then.
Thanks for all of your work on this!
