SOLVED Unable to set the default speaker
I did everything there was to do to make alexa work on my MagicMirror, in fact it shows that is online with the green circle gif. The problem seem related to the microphone, because if I say “Alexa” nothing happens. So i ran the micConfig script but at a certain point there is a red line saying “Output device error ! (default speaker not set)”. I tried disabling all the other audio output but the one that I want, but with no success. How can I resolve this problem and make Alexa work?
use device: “default”
This post is deleted!
Ok i set the parameter as “default” but now an error shows up: utils.sh: line 308: play: command not found. And then again it shows the message “Output device error ! (default speaker not set)”
Alexa v1.1 use HTML5 audio output
After configure your input (microphone device) /output device (speaker) in Pi desktop
I don’t know what do you seach really because
device: "default"is for Microphone not for speaker
maybe wiki will help you
Before posting here I read the wiki but Alexa wouldn’t work, like it does not get the audio input. Because of that i ran the micConfig script, I thought that maybe I was setting wrong the microphone in the config.js file. And it was there that i encountered the “Output device error ! (default speaker not set)” problem. Immediatly after the error the script breaks and i cannot hear my voice, and therefore I don’t know if the microphone is setted alright. I tried your solution to set device: “default”, but in doing this, the micConfig script gave me the additional error: “play: command not found”.
I tried to streampipe in shell and both the microphone and the speakers work perfectly, so the issue is not hardware related
I repeat Again (3 Times) it’s not related. and this step is not needed
in all case try this:
pi@Raspberry:~ $ arecord -L|grep default default sysdefault:CARD=Device <--- name of the mic input pi@Raspberry:~ $ aplay -L|grep default default sysdefault:CARD=b1 sysdefault:CARD=Headphones <--- the name of your default speaker output pi@Raspberry:~ $ lsb_release -d Description: Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) <---- the name of your OS
after can you give me log of from starting MagicMirror
